Category of membership is designated by your current licensure or status. Find the category of membership below (and also listed on page 2 of the application form) that describes your current status. Be sure to provide a copy of your license or student ID with your application. Our membership year is June 1 to May 30.

• Mentoring program for new MSW graduates or clinicians new to the area.
• Collegiality through case consult groups, meetings, and local programs.

• Liaison with social work schools to include students and promote clinical social work.
• Access to the Clinical Social Work Journal at a reduced rate, the most respected journal among clinical social workers.

COMMUNICATING

• Via Access, a national newsletter providing news and information about activities of the Federation and its state societies.
• Via national meetings for state society representatives providing education and workshops on issues of federal and state legislation, clinical practice, mental health developments and regulations, consumer organizations and protections, specialty practice, and more.

Categories of Membership

Locate the category of membership that describes your current status. The amount of annual dues for each category is listed on page 2 of the application. Our membership year is June 1 to May 30.

Full: Hold a current license from the Board of Social Work Examiners of the State of Maryland as a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C). Annual dues: $195.

Graduate: Hold a current license from the Board of Social Work Examiners of the State of Maryland as a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) and have a demonstrated interest in clinical social work and the stated intention of becoming licensed as a LCSW-C. (Limited to six years.) Annual dues: $100.

Student: Be officially enrolled in an accredited undergraduate social work program or in a masters or doctoral program of clinical social work in an accredited graduate school of social work. Complimentary membership is offered to all social work students with proof of current student status.

Associate: Hold a current license from the Board of Social Work Examiners of the State of Maryland as a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) AND be a full member in good standing of a Society for Clinical Social Work in an area or state adjacent to Maryland. Annual dues: $100.

Emeritus/Retired: By special request only. Must be a full member in good standing for at least one year prior to requesting Emeritus/Retired status, and be retired with the intention of remaining retired and no longer working in any capacity as a clinical social worker. Annual dues: $75.
