On a lovely spring evening in April 2008, members and their guests arrived at the home of Lori Mostofsky in the Mount Washington neighborhood of Baltimore to attend the Society's Annual Meeting and Spring Gala.

Guest speaker, Helen Kauffman, LCSW-C, spoke eloquently about Psychotherapy as a Spiritual Work. Helen, who is currently in private practice, is a former chaplain at Good Samaritan Hospital. She began her Society affiliation in 1992 as a Student member.

Society President, Tim Donovan, acknowledged the 2007 Scholarship recipients, Carmen Foster and Rebecca Solomon, as we kicked off the 2008 Scholarship Campaign. Every year Society members have exceeded their previous year's donations and we look forward to that happening again.

Tim also spoke about launching the on-line referral service -- a new member benefit. As of the date of the Annual Meeting, 45 members had signed on with the expectation that more will be joining. Under the capable organization of Mary Burke, LCSW-C, who had been Chair of the previous Referral Service for many years, the on-line service has taken shape.

Lynne Farbman, Chair of the Mentor Committee spoke about the exciting relationship we have developed with the School of Social Work and acknowledged the very beneficial effects of our Mentor program for the Society's student members. Certificates of appreciation were given to this year's mentors: Laura Brooks, Claudia Cameron, Jim David, Jewell Golden, Ann Klein, Marty Schnuit, and Steve Wechsler.

The Annual Meeting is the highlight event of our year. Everyone welcomed new officers who will assume their duties on July 1st. Applause for Martha Miller, President; Betsy Amey, Legislative Vice President; Patricia Desert, Treasurer; and Catherine Weber, Secretary. We were extremely pleased to see a large number of student members attending.
